MAFS star fears for career after storming out of wedding and brutally rejecting bride

Tim Gromie, a contestant on the latest season of Married At First Sight Australia, is concerned that the show may harm his professional reputation following the airing of the first episode. The PE teacher was paired with Katie Johnstone and sparked outrage among viewers with his behaviour on the show.

In the episode, Katie shared her past experiences of rejection and her desire to start anew after a decade of being single. Despite describing himself as “too nice” and not particular about physical appearance, Tim expressed disappointment and disinterest in Katie, saying she wasn’t his “usual type”.

He was caught complaining to a producer off-camera, stating: “Totally not what I wanted. Not good.”

“I normally go for short, petite, blonde or brunette. Katie’s nothing like what I usually go for. There’s just no attraction. I can tell straight away,” reports the Mirror.

One star has come under fire for his actions

Tim is allegedly unhappy about the footage being broadcast and has deleted his social media accounts to distance himself from the show. “Tim is really fearful the show is going to affect his employment as a primary school teacher, that’s why he’s deleted all socials, is refusing to do interviews and wants nothing to do with it,” a source to Yahoo Lifestyle.

They continued: “He feels he was stitched up from the start and is now just trying to get through it with minimal damage to his career and reputation.”

A second source said: “He isn’t going to come out of this very well at all, especially after the first dinner party.”

Tim’s already in hot water for remarks made on the programme, catching flak not least from ex-Married At First Sight Australia star Lucinda Light, who offered solidarity to Katie, saying: “The whole of Australia is right behind you gorgeous woman. I’m so sorry this was your experience. Tim is one very disappointing person.”

Katie had earlier delved into her history of body shaming by a former partner, recounting a particularly painful memory during the episode. “I have a very distinct memory of being in the pool in a bikini with family and friends, and my ex was there looking down on me and asking me like: ‘Can I lose some weight?'” she shared. “I really felt like so destroyed and so ashamed. I was not getting out of that pool.”

Katie had been single for 10 years

Katie revealed: “For the first time, I feel like I’m stepping forward as somebody who deserves love and is ready for it. I’ve been single for 10 years and I don’t know how to get into a relationship. So, yeah, why not just marry him straight off the bat? I’m hoping for a success story.”

She confessed to finding Tim attractive, but he swiftly made it clear he wasn’t pleased. As Katie welcomed her new husband with a smile and attempted to ease the tension with a hug, Tim pulled away, leaving her visibly perplexed.

Speaking to a producer, Tim explained: “I don’t know how to say, I’m not like I wanted a skinny – it’s not that. I definitely don’t always judge a book by its cover. So no, I don’t just run because of what the person looks like, but…I’m just feeling a bit deflated. Not sure why we got matched.”
