MAFS star lands dream job after being cruelly fat-shamed by trolls

Married At First Sight UK star Amy Christophers has opened up about the brutal trolling that kickstarted her career, as she reflected on how cruel taunts from viewers had helped her to secure her dream job. As viewers may recall, sports journalist Amy shot to fame back in 2021 when she made her debut on the E4 reality series.

Paired with Josh Christie, Amy quickly became a fan favourite, but despite her popularity and her marriage not lasting, she’s now thriving in her career. In fact, the talented journalist has even been spotted at glamorous events like Royal Ascot and the Women’s Six Nations, mingling with celebs such as Tommy Fury and Jill Scott.

Post-show life wasn’t all glitz and glamour though as Amy faced a barrage of body-shaming on social media, which became so intense that her friends had to step in and defend her online.

Opening up about the experience to The Mirror, Amy shared: “It was really weird, I remember one day I logged on to my Facebook while I was on the show and my notifications just went wild. My friends were tagging me on these MAFS Facebook pages, and they were defending me, saying ‘You don’t even know her’. It was a lot. I’m somebody who tries not to go looking at the comments, but you couldn’t get away from them.”

“My friends were tagging me and defending me, but then that just made me look at the comments. While the majority of the comments were very supportive, some weren’t very nice and took Josh’s side, I think those people fancied him.”

Despite the negativity from a small section of the audience, Amy did reveal she had actually been inundated with messages of support from around the world, some of which she still receives today as more and more fans tune in to the show, which is available to stream in full online.

Even with the vote of confidence from so many people however, it didn’t mean the negative comments hadn’t affected Amy, who herself confessed that the vicious remarks left her questioning herself and her size, which at the time was a 12 to 14.

Amy added: “There’s no right or wrong shape and I think people who write comments about it should be a bit more mindful that there are other shapes and sizes who will be reading them too. You’re making other people feel bad, comments like that aren’t appreciated or needed. We should all be celebrating our differences, we are all unique and that’s what makes us beautiful. It would be boring if we were all the same.”

Sadly her romance didn’t last, but Amy was able to develop a thriving career as a presenter outside of the series

Ever since stepping into the spotlight three years ago, Amy has been outspoken about body positivity following the intense criticism regarding her weight after appearing on the E4 show. Now, she fully embraces her fabulous figure and stands as a beacon of body positivity, inspiring countless women daily on social media.

The brunette beauty often shares heartfelt posts aimed at encouraging other women to love and appreciate their bodies, as well as helping to normalise mid-size bodies on screen, with her regular presenting gigs, and via her Youtube channel.
