
A man has been arrested after a pedestrian sustained serious injuries in a County Durham crash.
A police investigation has been launched following a collision in Seaham on Tuesday afternoon. Police say the crash, which happened at around 12.45pm on Westlea Road, involved a pedestrian and a white BMW.
The pedestrian remains in hospital with serious injuries. A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the crash. He has been released under investigation while further inquires are carried out.
Officers from Durham Constabulary‘s serious collision investigation unit are keen to speak to witnesses who have not already contacted police or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident. Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact investigators at: SCIU@durham.police.uk quoting incident number 182 of January 14.
