With warmer weather on the way, Marks & Spencer shoppers have been snapping up some “luxurious” and “unbelievably soft” bedding designed to keep you cool and comfortable on those sticky summer nights.
The Comfortably Cool Lyocell Rich Duvet Cover has been climbing up the bestseller list this month, made from smooth fabric featuring natural fibres that “wick moisture away” for a cooler night’s sleep. Available in single, double, king and super king sizes and priced from £39.50 to £65, the bedding is also equipped with M&S’ ‘StayNew’ technology, designed to keep it looking and feeling fresh even after multiple washes.
The duvet cover also comes in 11 plain colours to suit any bedroom décor, from classic white, cream or grey to calming powder blue, sage or light mauve. Racking up hundreds of reviews on the M&S website and an overall rating of 4.2 out of five stars, the bedding has earned high praise from shoppers, who hailed it as “excellent” and a “must-have” for summer.
One M&S shopper said in a five-star review: “A lovely smooth silky feel to this duvet cover which does an excellent job of keeping you cool. Washes well and irons easily.”
Another impressed customer wrote: “Easy to wash and dry and oh-so cool in the middle of the night when you wake up boiling hot! Roll over and roll back and it’s already cool again! Great for peri/menopausal women!”
A third commented: “I have bought the full set. The material is wonderful – feels like silk, but with no sliding about! It’s not scratchy like cotton either. They really are the best I have bought. Washes well and goes in the dryer. Also keeps you cool and fresh. A wonderful combination.”
And someone else raved: “First used last night and amazed at the difference. Enjoyed a cool night’s sleep despite the humid atmosphere.”
However, while just under 80% of shoppers awarded the bedding either four or the full five stars, not everyone was impressed. A few reviewers complained that the colour of the cover they chose looked “different to the photo” on the M&S website, while a handful of others said that theirs arrived with “faded lines” along the creases, and some thought the material was too much on the “thin” side.
Those who love the duvet cover can pick up a matching pair of Comfortably Cool Lyocell Rich Pillowcases for £17.50, as well as a Comfortably Cool Lyocell Rich Fitted Sheet for between £25 and £35 depending on size. M&S also offers a Flat Sheet, a Deep Fitted Sheet and an Extra Deep Fitted Sheet in the same range to ensure a perfect fit.
For a more budget-friendly option elsewhere on the high street when it comes to keeping your cool this summer, Dunelm offers the Fogarty Cooling Cotton Duvet Cover in five colours – white, dark grey, blush pink, silver or white sand – for between £23 and £36 with single, double, king and super king sizes available. Also featuring lyocell fibres that “wick moisture”, according to the retailer, one Dunelm shopper said they had the “best night’s sleep in a long time” under the cover, although another reviewer said they found it to be “a bit scratchy”.
