Made In Chelsea star Harvey Armstrong worked as a high-flying accountant before joining the cast of the poshest show on telly in 2019. The reality star, 29, ounder of craft beer start-up Prime Time Lager, made a name for himself on the show as Sophie Habboo’s ex, and then for his rollercoaster relationship with model Emily Blackwell. The latter ended in tears after two years in 2021, after Harvey admitted he had cheated. Here, Harvey, 28, who was speaking to OK! at the launch of 2023 Apprentice winner Marnie Swindell ‘s newly-refurbished Bronx Boxing gym in London, tells us about the new Turkish cast member he’s dating, Zeylo Taylan – and what his devastating split from Emily taught him…
Harvey, you’ve embarked on a new romance – tell us more…
Yeah, it’s a new girl on the show this series, Zeyno, she’s really sweet. It’s been a serious thing for a few months now at least. It’s probably the first time I’ve let my guard down with girls since Emily. I’ve been very devoted to my business since she and I broke up and this is the first girl who I’ve thought, yeah, maybe I can let somebody new into my life.
What changed then?
I think I got the business to the point where I have an amazing team around me and I can turn slightly away from that and have time for a girlfriend. What I learned with Emiy was that I didn’t have enough time to be a good boyfriend. I promised then never to let any other girl into my life until I can give her all the attention she needs and deserves.
Is this looking serious then?
Yeah, I mean we have a bit of a rocky road towards the end of the season, which you’ll probably see. There’s a bit of a speed-bump which we’re working on – I won’t give too much away. I’ve had to reconsider a few things. Me and Rez also hit a rocky patch, which is pretty rare for us.
Why do you love being on MIC?
It’s a really fun thing to do. You’re with your friends, you’re filming in real life, it’s intrusive, obviously – and you have to accept that when you sign up to the show. But look, I was an account before in an office, typing away for like 10 hours a day. Compared to that, I’m out having fun with my friends and getting filmed doing it. I love it. In your single era, you date girls, meet some amazing people.
What’s been one of your hardest moments?
Probably the whole breakup with Emily. That was really tough, having to go through all of that on camera – someone who I truly loved and lived with and was so connected with and it all fell apart. It makes you really wake up and go yeah, this is crazy. This is a hard moment to go through for a person anyway, but on camera, too…My mum watches the show! She said it was awful, to see me struggling.. The whole thing was ugly.
Viewers see you Chelsea guys as ‘how the other half live’. Is that true?
It’s not all true! You get it all the time, but that’s fine. I’ve never been gifted anything in my life – I’ve always worked hard for what I’ve achieved. I’d say half of the cast have that fallback of family wealth and the rest, but the others see MIC as an opportunity for growth which they take by the horns. That’s definitely how I see it.
Tell us about the beer brand taking up all your time before?!
Prime Time Lager, yeah – it’s basically my full-time job outside of my Made In Chelsea hustle! I started this company pre MIC, and it’s going really well. It’s a wellness beer – it’s lower calories, lower carbs, it’s better for you. I love beer but it can be so bloating and calorific, so I created something better.
Do your Made In Chelsea cast mates drink it, too?
They are forced to, yes. I can’t wear anything branded on the show, but I’ve got Prime Time Lager tattooed on my wrist so I can get it on camera as much as possible!
Would you like to do other things, like Sam Thompson who won I’m A Celeb…?
I’d love to! Sam’s really killing it. I know him well, I live down the road from Sam and see him at the gym all the time. He’s got such good energy – almost too much! More shows would be great. But maybe something entrepreneurial, like The Apprentice. Or Celeb SAS Who Dares Wins, because I love a challenge. I just did the London Marathon!
What about Celebs Go Dating, would you be up for that?!
I’d love to do it. I do like dating and I’d love the exerts to help me find someone!
