Netflix fans are ‘just discovering’ intense thriller with the ‘coldest ending ever’

Netflix viewers are ‘only just discovering’ a gripping thriller series that came out back in 2021. ‘Behind Her Eyes’ has been described by many as having the ‘coldest ending ever’

The series sees a single mum fall for her boss, before striking up an affair and a friendship with his wife. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough.

An official synopsis of Behind Her Eyes reads: “A single mother enters a world of twisted mind games when she begins an affair with her psychiatrist boss while secretly befriending his mysterious wife. The show stars Simona Brown, who plays Louise, a single mum with a son and a part-time job in a psychiatrist’s office.

Behind Her Eyes was originally released on Netflix back in 2021

The mum strikes up an unlikely friendship with his wife, who viewers later find out holds a dark secret. Alongside Simona Brown, the series stars Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson as Adele and Tom Bateman as Dr. David Fergus.

A Facebook post originally issued by Netflix has now resurfaced, with fans gripped by the show’s shocking twist. The post reads: “Netflix fans are just finding out about six-part thriller with ‘one of the coldest endings ever’.”

Netflix Bangers UK added: “This was great!!! I figured it out before the ending but the plot twist was definitely INSANE.”

A number of Facebook users asked for the name, but others already knew about the riveting ‘Behind Her Eyes’ show from when it originally aired. Joanne Pozvek commented: “Read the book first then watched the move, enjoyed both.”

Shelley Dean wrote: “Great twist at the end didn’t see it coming.” Judy Frederick agreed: “This is a great watch.”

Chris Eve replied: “I listened to the podcast it was awesome gave a real good insight to this story,” while Zoe Holden wrote: “The ending killed me.”

However, not everyone was impressed with the twisted ending. Caroline Framke wrote for Variety: “Here’s the thing about the ending of ‘Behind Her Eyes’: it’s surprising, but even more than that, it’s stupid.”

The series sees Louise and Adele bond over their shared night terrors. Seen through flashbacks, viewers learn that Adele taught herself the art of astral projection at a rehab facility following her parents’ death, where she met a charismatic addict Rob (Robert Aramayo) who quickly became infatuated with her.

The wife begins training the single mum to enhance her own supernatural abilities. However at the end of the series, Louise finally decides to turn on Adele once and for all, whilst trying to secure David for herself.

During the climax of the show, Adele decides to burn her life down by setting fire to her house and takes an overdose. Louise, despite their rivalry, doesn’t want Adele dead. She runs to the house in a panic, astral projecting herself inside to see what’s going on when she can’t physically get in to save the jilted wife.

Adele then astral projects herself out to Louise’s sleeping body, nestling herself inside, leaving Louise’s consciousness to get sucked into Adele’s near-dead body forever. At this point do the viewers finally get to uncover the truth – Adele wasn’t even Adele in the first place.

Once again looking at flashbacks to Adele’s time in rehab, viewers learn that after she taught Rob how to astral project, as well as introduced him to David, Rob decided that he’d rather have Adele’s life than Adele herself. He decided to steal her body, much like what the viewers witness happen to Louise in the present, just in time for her to marry David and live on as Adele for a decade.
