Saturday Night Live star John Mulaney has taken a jibe at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex while announcing his upcoming Netflix project, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, which is expected to be an exciting 12-week live variety talk show featuring various stars.
At a Netflix event, the comedian couldn’t resist drawing a comparison between his project and the deal Prince Harry and Meghan Markle secured with the streaming giant.
He joked: “This is a really fun experiment. Not since Harry and Meghan has Netflix given more money to someone without a specific plan.
“Like Harry and Meghan, there’s nothing but goodwill on my side. People are rooting for me left and right.”
The Royal couple created a buzz in December 2022 when they launched their docuseries, Harry and Meghan, on Netflix. The program detailed their whirlwind romance and reasons for leaving their frontline roles, reports the Express.

Around the same time, Meghan is all set to charm the audience with her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle program launching in March. The show’s release was delayed due to LA wildfires.
In an unexpected turn of events as 2024 draws to a close, the high-profile duo has reportedly opted for a ‘professional split’, with each taking on more solo projects and engagements.
Yet, in a recent development, they seem to have come back together, with Meghan accompanying her partner at the February Invictus Games.
Reflecting on his own venture, John shared his candid thoughts: “It was one of those shows that neither Netflix nor I really needed to do. I never wanted to host a talk show and they were getting out of the talk show game, so it was the perfect moment to do this.”

He embraced the irreverent nature of his programme, stating: “We will never be relevant, we will never be your source for news, we will always be reckless. Netflix will always provide us with data that we ignore.”
John celebrated the distinctiveness of his show, remarking: “There is absolutely nothing new about what I’m doing. But by taking a lot of elements other people have already done and doing them out of order, it feels new and that’s what’s important.”
He also joked about its potential success: “If we can be one-tenth as popular on Netflix as anything from South Korea, I will have the most successful talk show in world history.”
In the realm of streaming, Netflix has unveiled its latest reality competition series called Building the Band. In a touching disclosure, it’s been revealed that Liam Payne will make a ‘posthumous appearance’ following his tragic passing last October.
