
Flights to one of Newcastle Airport‘s most requested destinations are set to take off for winter 2025/26.
Jet2 announced the launch of a brand-new route between Newcastle and Budapest, which the airline says is responding to strong demand from UK holidaymakers. Jet2 will operate exclusive twice weekly services to the Hungarian capital, expanding its network from the North Eat.
Thursday and Sunday flights will operate between October 9, 2025 and April 26, 2026. Travellers who book with Jet2holidays will also have the option of a selection of hotels in the city centre.
The city is known for its culture, with visitors able to while away days sightseeing at the likes of Buda Castle and the Fisherman’s Bastion, or taking time to relax in the thermal baths. After dark, there is nightlife of every kind to explore – from underground clubs and ruin bars, to classy cocktail bars and rooftop terraces.
Richard Knight, chief operating officer at Newcastle Airport, said: “Budapest has been one of our most requested destinations, and we’re confident this new regular route will be hugely popular with both passengers and our local travel agents.
“It’s brilliant to see Jet2 further expanding its city break offering and route network from Newcastle Airport. With 2025 marking Jet2’s biggest ever programme and its 20th anniversary flying from Newcastle, this is a fantastic addition for North East travellers.”
Bosses at Jet2 hope that the launch of the scheduled service builds on the success of of its dedicated Christmas Markets trips. The company will now operate to 54 destinations from Newcastle Airport throughout the year, with 22 destinations during winter 25/26.
