Newcastle United eye £12.5m Norway wonderkid compared to ‘young Arjen Robben’

Newcastle United have been scouting Norway wonderkid Sindre Walle Egeli in the build-up to the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old is currently plying his trade with FC Nordsjaelland and is deemed one of the brightest young talents in Scandinavia. He has been capped by Norway all the way from the under-15 category to senior level.

Nordsjaelland signed Walle Egeli from Sandefjord and he has wooed fans in the Norway Superliga with six goals and four assists in 21 matches this term. He is currently valued over £12.5m, which is no snip for a teenager, but those close to the player suggest he is a star in the making.

The likes of RB Leipzig and Atalanta are keen, and Feyenoord are believed to have had an offer for £12m turned down in January. Walle Egeli has huge admiration for Man City ace Erling Haaland but describes himself more as a player of the same style as ex-Dutch international Arjen Robben.

Walle Egeli, who can operate as a left winger or on the right but is also capable of filling in as a centre-forward, but he fits perfectly into the age group United are looking at right now. The Magpies have already paid cash for Baran Yildiz from Gençlerbirligi back in January.

And Irish whizzkid Kyle Fitzgerald from Galway also signed back in the winter window. After that particular signing Academy boss Steve Harper said: “Our talent pathway has had some big success stories in recent years so the challenge is there for Kyle and all of our players to continue their development and hopefully follow in the footsteps of those who have gone on to compete in the first-team squad.”
