Newcastle United surrendered the lead against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup as they wasted their big chance to get to another Wembley final.
The Magpies grabbed the lead mid-way through the first half after Tino Livramento was upended by Yankuba Minteh and Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot. Alexander Isak confidently stepped up to fire it into the left-hand corner of the net and hand Newcastle a deserved 1-0 advantage.
But Minteh levelled the game up just before half-time after finding himself free before calmly stroking it past Martin Dubravka after Joao Pedro’s pass.
The tie was made more difficult when Anthony Gordon was sent off for raising his hands to Jan Paul Van Hecke in the second half with the Scouser ruled out the Carabao Cup final as a consequence. But the game was levelled up in terms of stars on the field when Tariq Lamptey also got his marching orders for a second yellow card.
Brighton sub Danny Welbeck netted in stoppage time to steal the game for the travelling side.

Thought he’d won it but struggled through extra time.
