Minteh repeat?
Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza is the latest player to be linked with a move to Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window. With PSR playing havoc on the Magpies’ recent transfer windows, they have looked towards future stars for cheaper transfer fees. Over the last few years, the club have brought in Yankuba Minteh, Will Osula and the future arrival Vakhtang Sallia to St James’ Park.
The potential arrival of Maza would continue that line of thinking. A fee in the region of €10-20 million is the asking price for the young Algeria international. Maza started his professional career with Hertha Berlin II before making the move up to the first-team in 2023. He made his Bundesliga debut in April of that year in a 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old scored his first goal for the club in his next outing, a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg, in the club’s last game in the German top-flight. Hertha Berlin were relegated to Bundesliga 2 for the 2023/24 season.
