A Northumberland hotel has launched a series of evenings aiming to celebrate the North East’s rich culinary heritage.
One of the oldest hostelries in the country and formerly part of an abbey, The Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, on the border of Northumberland and County Durham, will host five chef’s table events between March and September. The events will take place in the “intimate” setting of the hotel’s gatehouse, with just 16 seats for each evening.
Guests will be invited to indulge in a four-course meal with each chef aiming to present their cuisine using the best local and seasonal produce. 75% of the proceeds from each event will be donated to the charity of the chef’s choice.
Paul Johnson, head chef at the Lord Crewe Arms, said: “The idea for Taste Of The North came about from my deep passion for showcasing the incredible culinary talent we have here in the North. I wanted to create a space where local chefs could shine and share their unique creations with a wider audience.
“Each chef brings something special to the table, and I’m thrilled to see how they will interpret and celebrate our rich culinary heritage. This series is not just about great food, it’s about community, collaboration and giving back.
“With *75% of the proceeds going to charities close to the chefs’ hearts, we have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. I can’t wait for our guests to experience the amazing flavours and hospitality that the North has to offer, all within the charming and historic surroundings of the Lord Crewe Arms.”
Previously, the Lord Crewe Arms has been named the best in the country by the Good Pub Guide and one of the best hillside hideaways in the UK. ChronicleLive gave it a five-star review in 2016.
