Oti Mabuse’s better half, Marius Iepure, was deeply touched and found himself shedding tears after witnessing his wife Oti’s emotional moment in the jungle. The ex-Strictly sensation became visibly overwhelmed with homesickness, prompting reassurance from her fellow contestants. Marius, who had travelled to Australia alongside their infant and Oti’s mother Dudu, shared with the Mirror his reaction to the poignant footage: “It moved me…I definitely was crying with her. I know how real she is and how much she always tries to keep it together, so I felt it with her.”
Oti confessed that the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! journey had been particularly challenging for her, telling her campmates on Thursday of her sense of exhaustion and isolation due to missing her normal circle of support. She expressed: “You know they say you have a dip, and I don’t think I’ve had one until now,” and explained, “You don’t have your normal support you know, you don’t have your spiritual support, you don’t have your emotional support…I was just like, ”Wow, ok none of my family’s around.'”
As emotion overcame Oti, her fellow jungle inhabitants did their utmost to reassure her. Tulisa consoled her by saying, “Your jungle family’s here, though.” Reflecting on this in the Bush Telegraph, Oti made it clear that remaining resilient was crucial to her, especially for her daughter’s sake: “I just have to remind myself why I’m here, I just have to push and dig deep. I’m here for my daughter and I have to be strong. It’s just exhausting sometimes to be strong.”
Marius, deeply touched by his wife Oti’s journey, sent a heartfelt message to her that he shared with the Mirror. He expressed his sentiments: “We are having the best time watching how beautiful and kind you are and how you spread that positive South African energy with this amazing group of people.”
“We have never spent so much time apart in one block and even if I didn’t think it was possible, I realise that I love you even more now because of the woman and extraordinary mother you are becoming. We watch the show and when you laugh we laugh, when you cry we cry and when you eat cockroaches we eat the best food we can get, just to balance it out. “We love you and miss you, you just stay strong because the real fun starts now!
“We love you so much and we are super proud of you!”
Earlier, the publication caught up with Marius at Brisbane Airport as he arrived to be there for Oti, revealing their one year old daughter is eagerly anticipating being reunited with her mum. Oti, an ex-Strictly favourite, previously confided that it was not easy to part with their little girl for the show.
Despite missing Oti, Marius has been managing splendidly on daddy duty. When asked about his excitement to see his wife, he couldn’t hide his enthusiasm: “Oh my god you can’t imagine. And this one (points to baby) can’t wait.”
Oti, known for her glittering appearances as a Strictly Come Dancing champion and a judge on Dancing On Ice, encountered a challenging chapter last year when her baby arrived prematurely, facing complications and a six-week stay in intensive care following Oti’s battle with sepsis during pregnancy. At 34, Oti underscored her zeal for embarking on new ventures, saying previously: “Now I have had my baby daughter, I want to get back to the adventurous and fun Oti. I feel ready for a change and doing something completely different. I will have no make-up, concealer, lashes it’s going to be nice to be laid back.”
Embracing motherhood with open arms, she’s also looking forward to some much-needed rest, remarking: “As a new mum, I am going to use it to my advantage, I am going to catch up on a whole year’s sleep,” and added, albeit acknowledging the challenge of being away from her daughter, “Of course not seeing my daughter is going to be hard. She is going to be one of my biggest motivators. My husband is really excited I am doing the programme. He loves the show too. This is one of the shows where it is really nice to be determined, ambitious and competitive when it comes to doing a challenge. It will be about getting the stars.”
Her husband shares in Oti’s enthusiasm for her latest endeavour, which sees her enter into a realm where ambition and competitive spirit are rewarded. As Oti put it: “Of course not seeing my daughter is going to be hard. She is going to be one of my biggest motivators. My husband is really excited I am doing the programme. He loves the show too. This is one of the shows where it is really nice to be determined, ambitious and competitive when it comes to doing a challenge. It will be about getting the stars.”
