A place that will be packed to the rafters on Sunday afternoon has revealed that it is ordered in SIX tonnes of beer for the Carabao Cup final, to make sure Newcastle fans are well watered for the big game.
Almost as soon as the final whistle blew on Newcastle’s 2-0 semi final second leg victory over Arsenal on February 5, NX was one of the first venues to confirm its plans for Sunday, March 16, with tickets swiftly put on sale, before North Shields‘ own DJ Schak was announced as a special guest performer.
And now, with just days to go, all tickets sold out and preparations well in hand for Newcastle v Liverpool, NX, who have been packed out in the past for the Euros, World Cup and Newcastle v Sunderland in last year’s FA Cup, is getting ready to take delivery of a massive six tonnes of beer for the occasions, as well as detailing everything that will happen before and after the final whistle at Wembley. Doors to NX on Westgate Road in the city centre will open at 1pm, with last entry for anyone with a ticket being 3.30pm.
On the emphatic response to the NX Fan Zone and what the venue has planned, Venue Manager Luke Rushfirth said: Every time Newcastle United reaches a cup final, the city comes alive, and we knew we had to go all out for this one. The response has been phenomenal – tickets were snapped up in no time, and we’ve had to bring in a record six tonnes of beer to keep up with demand. If there’s one thing Geordies love as much as their football, it’s their beer, and we’re ready to serve up both in massive quantities on Sunday!”
One of the most anticipated moments of the event will come just before kick-off when a live saxophonist will perform ‘Local Hero’, Originally recorded by Mark Knopfler, the anthem has been played as the Magpies walk out at St James’ Park for decades, and hearing it live on the day of a cup final is sure to create a spine-tingling moment for fans inside NX.
The saxophonist will also lead the crowd through two more classic NUFC chants to ensure the Toon Army is in full voice before the match coverage begins with full TV sound on.
