Fresh off the release of his collaborative album with Drake, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, PartyNextDoor teased a song that took shots at Tory Lanez. Since then, the Toronto artist has backpedalled.
In a post shared on his Instagram Stories, PND tagged Tory Lanez and wrote, “I was told about what you said without hearing your video for myself,” he wrote. “You didn’t say anything that I wouldn’t say myself, now that I seen it I was wrong. City is stronger together.”
The apology comes shortly after PartyNextDoor previewed a song on an Instagram Live session, which he played after seemingly addressing Tory Lanez’s recent comments about the Toronto artists who have already dropped major albums this year including PND and Drake.
“I’m not y’all n***as friends,” he said. “Stop saying my name.” He then played a snippet, in which he sang, “Fuck what Tory Lanez say … I did everything he did he’s just a running man… drama man… I’m the daddy let me slap you okay.” In the preview, he also sang, “You said I sound like Young Thug … You sound like me / One day, you’ll be me.”
In a recent phone call from behind bars, Tory Lanez said that he plans to make an album after being inspired by all the music coming from Toronto this year. “PartyNextDoor showed his best work of 2024, Drake showed his best work of 2025, The Weeknd showed his best work of 2024, now it’s time for me to come out,” he said, as heard in the clip below. “I’mma flame all of that shit, you know me.”
Lanez recently had a recording session for the album in prison interrupted by a riot.
PartyNextDoor and Lanez have collaborated in the past, and this is the first time there have been any indications of beef, even if PND has since backed away from causing any issues. PND’s close collaborator Drake has also called for Lanez to be freed from prison on multiple occasions. Lanez is currently serving ten years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
