Brittany Mahomes, wife of Super Bowl star and Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes, is a familiar face in the stands, often seen alongside Taylor Swift. Despite facing backlash for her support of Donald Trump, Brittany has built an empire beyond her role as an NFL wife.
The couple met at the University of Texas at Tyler, where Brittany played football and Patrick was involved in American football. Brittany, originally from Texas, didn’t anticipate playing college football after graduating from Whitehouse High School, despite being named Offensive MVP and an All-East Texas forward in her final year.
She scored 22 goals and assisted five in that season, before joining the Texas-Tyler Patriots. Despite exiting the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championships in the first round during her initial two years, Brittany made history by becoming the first player to score three hat-tricks in a season for the program.
Her total of 31 goals ranks second in the program’s history. After earning a degree in kinesiology, she moved to Iceland and signed a contract with Afturelding/Fram in the third division, alongside college teammate Chesley Strother. They won promotion together after Brittany scored twice in her five appearances with the club. However, her contract wasn’t extended and she subsequently retired from the sport, reports the Express.
Brittany, having returned home with her husband Patrick, ventured into entrepreneurial waters by establishing Brittany Lynne Fitness and then made a significant mark in the sports domain by investing in National Women’s Soccer League team Kansas City Current. As part of the leadership group, she has been instrumental in the development of their stadium following their expansion team award in 2020.
“While I was in Iceland, I realized that you have to have a huge passion if you want to play soccer and that’s what you want your career to be,” she told Vitality magazine back in 2020. “I found that my passion was in fitness and helping others.”
Her successes off the pitch are notable, buoyed by her partnership with Patrick, amassing an estimated net worth of £12million as reported by Spanish media outlet Marca. Following the Chiefs’ triumph in securing a spot at their third consecutive Super Bowl, Brittany didn’t shy away from a cheeky dig at Buffalo Bills fans, taking to Instagram to say: “Thank you all for your concerns with 15 this season, see y’all in New Orleans,” – a nod to her husband’s jersey number, signed “His wife.”
Further stirring the pot, she reposted an image of a Kermit the Frog toy, sporting the #15 jersey and hanging by a noose – a jibe directed at Patrick from Bills fans who teased him about his voice resembling that of the Muppet character. Alongside it, she wrote: “Do we remember this Buffalo? Absolutely disgusting. So as you go home tonight, I pray we become better people.”
