Queen and Taylor Swift tributes announced for Newcastle Food and Drink Festival

The debut Newcastle Food and Drink Festival which is set to take over Exhibition Park during the May Bank Holiday has announced its entertainment line-up.

The festival has already announced a line-up of chefs performing live demonstrations in its cookery theatre with everyone from the Michelin-Star head chef at Solstice Scott John-Hodgson, to MasterChef: The Professionals semi-finalist Kyle Greenwood. And now, a series of acts performing live music have been announced for the long weekend.

Queen tribute ‘We Are Champion’ take to the stage on Saturday, May 4; followed by Laura Olivia as Taylor Swift on Sunday, May 5. Bank Holiday Monday’s headliner is I Am Meghan, a Meghan Trainor tribute.

Over the course of the weekend, there will be up to 18 live music performances, lots of free children’s entertainment, and “roaming comedy.” Other names on the bill include local group Rock Choir; Newcastle based singer-songwriter Phil Graham; Scoble Swan and Friends; and many more.

The festival, which has been three years in the planning, is shaping up to be a major event, with the hosts expecting thousands to turn out during its run from May 4-6. There will be an Artisan Market with more than 100 stalls selling regional produce; a Street Food Arena with diverse global cuisine; and independent pop-up bars including an Ale-House being hosted in partnership with Tyne Bank Brewery.

The festival is also raising money for Tyneside & Northumberland Mind as its charity partner. To buy tickets – and early bird options have already sold out – see here.
