There have been queues down one particular street in Gateshead, with a new bakery proving very popular in its first few weeks of business, so much so that there have been days when they’ve sold out of everything before midday.
Opening just a stone’s throw away from the centre of town on Coatsworth Road at the end of last year, Savour Bakery has been causing quite a stir on social media, with more and more people flocking from Gateshead and further afield, to see what all the fuss it about, having seen photos and videos of queues outside on Instagram and TikTok and also had their attention grabbed by some of the delicious treats on its menu.
To use that famous cliche, there is something for everyone at Savour, with baked goodness of the savoury and sweet variety, with everything from freshly baked loaves and baguettes to salads, sandwiches and cheesecakes to cookies on offer. And demand has been so high for its food that there have been days when everything has sold out by lunchtime.
Blown away by the response the business has had so far, Savour, currently open six days a week, took to Facebook last week to write: “We’ve been blown away by the incredible response since opening – thank you! Every day, we’re increasing production, baking more, and working non-stop to keep up with demand.
“Right now, we’re selling out by mid-morning, so if you want to get your favourites, come early to avoid disappointment. But don’t worry – we’re actively recruiting to boost production even more! We appreciate your patience and support as we scale up. Exciting things ahead!”
The responses in the comment sections of Savour’s social media posts tell you everything you need to know about just how buzz the bakery has generated, with one satisfied customer replying: “Was here at 9am when u opened and the queue was outside.” Outlining their aims for the business another post saw Savour write: “Every bite tells a story of indulgence and passion. Come and treat yourself to our heavenly pastries, crafted with love and dusted to perfection. We look forward to hosting you and sharing the joy of our bakes!”
