Runners enjoy the sunshine as hundreds head along the Tyne for the Quayside 5K

The Quayside 5K and Junior Quayside 3K took place on Wednesday night, with Linton Taylor scoring the fastest time

Runners soaked up the sunshine on the Quayside 5k and Junior Quayside 3k on Wednesday night.

RunThrough hosted the event alongside Gateshead Harriers & AC and Wallsend Harriers, reviving the Terry O’Gara Memorial 5K Road Race in the A Race. Each race started on the Newcastle side of the Millennium Bridge and ended at Baltic Square in Gateshead.

A picturesque and mostly flat route, runners of all races pass under the Tyne and High Level Bridges, pass the Guildhall, and run back over the Millennium Bridge. The 3K takes runners just shy of the Redheugh Bridge, and the 5K takes runners further along the Quayside to where Monarch Road meets Water Street.

The winner of the A-Race was Linton Taylor, with a gun time of 14 minutes and 20 seconds, while the B-Race was won by Ellie Fellows with a gun time of 18 minutes and 51 seconds. Liam McDonogh of Alnwick Harriers took first place in the Junior 3K with a time of nine minutes and one second.
