Shock as popular Newcastle bar announces closure with ‘heavy heart’ six years after opening

It’s one of the most luxurious bars in Newcastle, so it’s come as a huge shock that Leila Lily’s has announced it will close in just a matter of weeks, with owners breaking the news with ‘a heavy heart’ on Monday afternoon.

Going into the premises once occupied by plush 00s hotspot The Living Room and then Christmas pop up Miracle on Grey Street, Leila Lily’s opened its doors to a lot of attention in 2019, with it quickly appearing on many people’s Instagram grids, thanks to its decadent decor, eye-catching cocktails and beautifully presented food.

A very popular place for birthday parties, engagement dos and baby showers, Leila Lily’s, which has the stunning Eva Rose Garden private function room on its ground floor, was also chosen to host a Geordie Shore cast party in 2023 and just last year had a lavish makeover.

However, on Monday, a post appeared on its social media accounts to reveal that it will close by the end of the month, with it reading: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we announced that Leila Lily’s will be closing its doors on March 23rd. Over the past six years we have been privileged to share so many wonderful memories with you all.”

It continued: “Your support and kindness has made our journey unforgettable and, for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts” And giving some clarification on what will happen going forward, the statement added: “We invite you to join us this month as we celebrate all things Leila Lily’s and and give us a memorable send off.

“For anyone with existing bookings or gift vouchers after our cls9ing date, we will be reaching out in the coming days to ensure everything is taken care of.”

News of Leila Lily’s closure quickly got a huge reaction, with one upset customer responding; “So sorry to hear this . Have been many times from the moment you opened and never been disappointed. Good luck to you and your wonderful staff for whatever the future holds” as another replied: “Sad to see, a beautiful venue and part of our story!”
