Stephen Mulhern is known for keeping his personal life under wraps. However, he did give a cheeky glimpse into his sex life during an interview with The Sun.
The TV star, who turned 47 earlier this month, has been a familiar face on our screens for over two decades. He’s hosted popular shows like Catchphrase, Deal or No Deal and Dancing on Ice, taking over from Phillip Schofield after he quit his ITV presenting duties.
Now he’s back with a second series of his Saturday evening gameshow, In For A Penny, on Saturday, 20 April. The show is based on the segment of the same name from Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and sees Stephen roaming the streets of the UK to ask unsuspecting members of the public to take wacky challenges.
Stephen’s career kicked off at CITV where he presented Finger Tips and Tricky TV, as well as Holly and Stephen’s Saturday Showdown alongside Holly Willoughby.
Details about Stephen’s love life are scarce, but it’s known that he once dated EastEnders actress Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell in the BBC soap. The pair were reportedly together from around 2008 to 2011, reports the Mirror.
When asked by The Sun back in 2020 about how much sex he was having, Stephen fired back with just two witty words, saying: “Not enough!”
In the same 2020 interview, when asked about the love of his life, Stephen didn’t name any romantic partners. Instead, he sweetly chose his sister Suzie, jokingly asking if that was a bit weird.
Once, during a Christmas episode of Saturday Showdown on CITV, Stephen was seen kissing long-time friend and co-host Holly. In a blast from the past clip, Stephen presented Holly with an elf hat adorned with mistletoe.
Reacting to her festive gift, an excited Holly exclaimed: “Hurray for me! I can kiss all of the boys in the world all of the time.”
Bursting into song, she continued: “Tis the season to kiss Holly, fa la la la la la la la la! ” Then he planted a kiss on his co-star, but she was quick to rebuff him.
Now it looks as though Stephen could be dating Josie Gibson, after they were spotted strolling along holding hands, with a body language expert saying it didn’t look platonic.
In For A Penny airs at 6pm on Saturday, 20 April, on ITV1 and ITVX
