Giovanni Pernice has announced he’s achieved a career milestone after revealing he will soon be ‘taking a break’.
The Strictly Come Dancing star was delighted to confirm that he has sold out The London Palladium for another year with his Let Me Entertain You tour. The 33 year old took to Instagram to announce the news to his 1.1 million fans as he thanked everyone who has attended his solo show so far.
Giovanni shared a video of himself and his backing dancers at the end of the stage as he was given a standing ovation. The BBC star penned: “Don’t mind me, I’m just a bloke from Sicily, taking in that I have managed to sell out The London Palladium for another year with my OWN SOLO SHOW…”
It comes as Giovanni confirmed that he will soon be taking a “little break” from dancing after a busy few years. The professional dancer has been working non-stop since he joined Strictly in 2015, later winning the trophy in 2021 when he was paired with actress Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Earlier this year he kicked off his Let Me Entertain Your tour, which has seen him travelling up and down the country. The tour is set to finish on April 30 at New Victoria Theatre in Woking, before Giovanni hits the road again in June for a two-man show with Strictly judge and mate Anton Du Beke.
Despite his future on Strictly being up in the air as the BBC has yet to announce its professional line-up for 2024, Giovanni has already revealed plans for a break next year following another round of touring. The TV personality shared the news on Instagram, posting a poster for Giovanni – The Last Dance, which will kick off on January 20, 2025.
He announced his break saying: “I have had a wonderful time this year on my solo tour and already looking forward to even bigger and better next year!.”
He urged fans get their tickets early, saying: “After performing in front of over half a million people for seven years in row, I plan to take a little break after next year’s tour, so book your tickets in advance for ‘GIOVANNI – THE LAST DANCE’ now at www.giovannipernice.com..”
His loyal fanbase quickly showed both their support for the Italian dancer and hopes that he wouldn’t retire for too long.
“No-one deserves a break more than you do. Just don’t stay away too long,” one fan wrote.
“You give so much, it’s time to take some well deserved time out for you,” added another.
While someone else said: “You deserve a break, you’ve absolutely smashed it these last 7 years. You should be proud of yourself.”
