Tesco shoppers have been urged to make sure they know the full list of perks they can access through the Clubcard reward scheme after it was confirmed that a popular feature is set to be scrapped.
The supermarket currently allows Clubcard holders to use a ‘Pay In-Store’ feature to pay and collect points simultaneously by scanning a code. However, this feature will be phased out by March 7, meaning customers will need to pay separately after scanning their Clubcard at the checkout.
Tesco Clubcard has undergone a series of changes in recent years, including sparking outrage from shoppers back in 2023 when it reduced the value of points with reward partners from triple to double their face value. So with Tesco currently running 30th anniversary celebrations for its Clubcard scheme which will see some extra perks available to savers, there’s no better time to maximise your points.
Currently, every £1 you spend with Tesco, including on groceries and the supermarket’s fashion arm F&F as well as at its petrol stations, cafes, and with Tesco Mobile, gets you one point on your Clubcard. 100 Clubcard points are worth £1, meaning that you get 1p back for every £1 you spend, as well as Clubcard unlocking exclusive discounts on products in store.
Clubcard points are also worth double with Tesco’s Reward Partners, with every 100 points worth £2 to spend on holidays, days out across the UK, home entertainment and more. Here are some of the lesser-known perks available to spend your Clubcard points on to ensure you’re making the most of your rewards.
Cinemas
Every 50p in Tesco Clubcard vouchers gives you £1 to spend at Cineworld, and you can also get a Cineworld Unlimited Pass for half price by turning every £10 in Clubcard vouchers into £20. With Cineworld cinemas in Newcastle’s The Gate, Boldon Leisure Park and Dalton Park in County Durham, there’s plenty of opportunity for North East Clubcard holders to save on their next cinema trip.
Disney+
When it comes to home entertainment, Tesco shoppers can use their Clubcard to turn £13.50 worth of vouchers into £27 to cover a Disney+ 3-month Standard Subscription. Alternatively, you can also use £7.50 worth of your points to sign up for a Disney+ 3-month Standard With Ads Subscription, worth £15.
With the option to cancel any time after the three-month period comes to an end, this is a great way to try out the service and watch some of your favourites without paying the full price. You can find all your Disney favourites here, from classics like Aladdin, Cinderella and Mulan to newer favourites such as Encanto, Frozen, Moana, Tangled and Big Hero 6. You will also find Marvel and Star Wars galore on Disney+, including new and original series from these universes from Agatha All Along to The Mandalorian, as well as award-winning series The Bear.
English Heritage
Clubcard holders can use their vouchers to get a discount on an English Heritage membership, with every 50p in vouchers worth £1 to spend with the charity. A membership unlocks entry to more than 400 historic places across the UK, including the likes of Hadrian’s Wall, coastal castles and grand gardens in the North East.
Restaurants
There are plenty of restaurant and pub chains where you can use your Clubcard vouchers to get money off your next meal – just be sure to check the terms and conditions on the Clubcard app or website as you may not be able to redeem them at busy times of the year such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Every 50p in points is worth £1 at the following favourites:
- Ask Italian
- Bella Italia
- Hungry Horse
- Pizza Express
- Prezzo
- Zizzi
Holidays
There are a range of holiday and hotel providers that have partnered up with Tesco to give Clubcard holders the chance to save on their next getaway. One of the newest additions is easyJet holidays, where every 50p in Clubcard vouchers is worth £1 to spend – and even better, you can also get £100 of Clubcard Points when you book an easyJet holiday using your vouchers.
Butlin’s is another favourite available to spend your points on, with every £5 Clubcard voucher worth £10 at Butlin’s Hotels and Butlin’s Family Breaks as well as Butlin’s Big Weekenders, while Eurocamp is also an option for Clubcard holders with the same offer that turns £5 into £10 to use on booking trips to any of its 400 parks across Europe.
Hotels.com is another provider Clubcard holders can save on – simply find the hotel you want to book and use the special discount code you received when exchanging your vouchers when you pay at the checkout, with every £5 in vouchers worth £10. Holidays with P&O Ferries and P&O Cruises are included in Tesco’s rewards scheme too.
Travel
It’s not just travel abroad that you can save on with a Tesco Clubcard, as offers are available with UK train and bus companies too. On both National Express and Megabus, every £5 in vouchers is worth £10 to spend, and you can also double the value of your points on a National Express Young Persons, Senior or Disabled Coachcard for even more savings.
In addition, every £1.50 in Clubcard vouchers can be turned into £3 to spend on Railcards, including 16-25, Senior, Disabled Persons, Two Together and Family & Friends options. Railcards offer holders a third off rail fares, so it’s worth investing in if you frequently travel by train, and a Clubcard means you can get one for less.
