The Apprentice fans threaten to switch off minutes into new series due to same complaint

Lord Sugar is back to his boardroom antics with a new batch of hopefuls on the BBC’s The Apprentice, but viewers are already hinting they might ‘switch off’ mere moments into the premiere episode. As the competition unfolded, Lord Sugar ushered the candidates into the boardroom to suss them out before the tasks commenced.

With Karren Brady and Tim Campbell by his side, he didn’t waste time ribbing the wannabe entrepreneurs. One candidate, Emma, confessed to her preference for a ‘two hour lunch break’, naturally raising eyebrows from Lord Sugar. She justified it by saying she starts work extra early to fit in a gym session during that lengthy pause.

In true Lord Sugar fashion, he quipped: “You’re going to be the first candidate to ask me to work from home! ” Whilst this comment drew laughter from fellow contestants, the jest didn’t land so well with the audience at home. Some viewers expressed their exasperation online and even threatened to abandon the show if Lord Sugar’s banter continues.

Comments emerged on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, including remarks such as: “It’s been on for 30 seconds and I already can’t cope with their fake laughter #TheApprentice,” or “First two minutes of this is making me want to turn it off,” reports the Mirror.

The jokes even prompted another fan to ponder, “What happens if you don’t laugh at Lord Sugar ‘s jokes? #TheApprentice,” while yet another viewer surmised that a stint on The Apprentice might end swiftly for them as they exclaimed: “If i went on The Apprentice i’d probably be fired because I would not be able to laugh at Lord Sugars terrible jokes!”

The teams were mixed up in the first episode for the first time

Although viewers feel like they’re experiencing a bit of déjà vu with Lord Sugar’s quips, this series has something new in store. Typically, the lads and lasses are split into separate teams until enough contestants have been given the boot to mix things up.

But this time around, Lord Sugar decided to shake things up a bit. Before the hopefuls jetted off to Austria for their tour task, the girls were lined up on one side of the boardroom, while the boys were on the other.

In a first for the show, Alan decided to jumble up the teams, instructing those standing at the back to switch sides, resulting in both teams having a mix of boys and girls. Fans were totally here for the change, with one tweeting: “Mixing the teams up on week 1, about time #TheApprentice”, while another posted: “Mixing the teams up from Week 1 for the first time ever. BRING ON THE DRAMA!”
