The Weeknd Celebrates Billions Club Milestone With LA Concert

Welcome to the Billions Club, The Weekend.

On Tuesday night, Spotify hosted Billions Club Live with The Weeknd at Santa Monica, California’s Barker Hangar to celebrate the singer’s unprecedented achievement of having the most tracks cross one billion streams on the platform.

The 34-year-old performed for a crowd of nearly 2,000 of his top Spotify fans, singing hits like “Starboy,” “The Hills,” and “Blinding Lights.” The invite-only event also had celebrity guests in the building including d4vd, Ava Max, Jimmy Tetro, Patrick Ta, Adam Savani, and Teezo Touchdown.

During his performance, The Weeknd also teased a “new album, new tour, [and] new movie.”

Although the celebration was held last night, the Toronto superstar broke the record last month as the first artist to have 21 songs hit 1 billion streams on Spotify. The latest song to help him break through the record was his 2014 “Love Me Harder” duet with Ariana Grande.

His 2020 mega-hit “Blinding Lights” remains the most streamed track on the platform with over 4.5 billion plays.

Weeknd’s upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, will be released on Jan. 25, 2025 and marks the final installment in a trilogy following 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM.
