‘This Bosch kettle matches my air fryer for less than half the price of Ninja’

‘This Bosch kettle matches my air fryer for less than half the price of Ninja’

My household has officially converted to the way of the air fryer – after finally deciding to get one for Christmas, I can confirm that everyone who recommended one was right and it has indeed transformed our cooking.

We went for the Ninja Air Fryer MAX PRO in the swanky black and copper colour, which is available on Amazon for £166.71 or on the Ninja website for £169.99 – although we managed to get it for £99 when it was reduced in December. It has been a marvel at mealtimes, massively reducing the time it takes to rustle up our favourite mains and sides while making them deliciously crispy too.

The only problem I was left with was that it didn’t match my other kitchen appliances, namely my kettle and toaster which were old and in need of an upgrade anyway; and with Ninja not offering any kettles or toasters in black and copper, I had to look elsewhere. However, I struggled to find any matching kettle and toaster sets in the same colour – a problem I imagine many others have had, with Ninja’s black and copper range being as popular as it is.

Finally, though, I came across the DesignLine range from Bosch, which includes a Stainless Steel Cordless Kettle and a 4 slot Stainless Steel Toaster both in a stylish black and copper colour. Having had many Bosch appliances in the past and having fitted my new kitchen out with the brand after reading countless reviews and recommendations, I knew that I wouldn’t be compromising on quality – despite making significant savings compared to buying a kettle and toaster from Ninja.

I bought both the kettle and toaster from Amazon, where they’re currently on offer for £39 and £49 respectively. With the closest match being a Ninja Black Kettle and Toaster Set available on the brand’s website for a reduced price of £199.99, opting for the Bosch pair saved me over £100.

The Bosch set was everything I have come to expect from the brand – they look good and were easy to use right out of the box, with the kettle being lightweight enough to make cuppas easily while the toaster gives me perfectly browned bread each time, and after two months of daily use I haven’t found anything to complain about. What more could you ask for?

As you would probably expect, Ninja boasts “innovative features” that the likes of Bosch and other brands don’t, with its kettle coming with six pre-set temperatures as well as the ability to keep your water at temperature for up to 30 minutes. But the Bosch set also has perks you won’t find with the Ninja models – the main one for me is that the Bosch toaster fits four slices at once, compared to the Ninja’s two.

The Ninja toaster, meanwhile, is also a grill and panini press in one, equipped with seven cooking functions. This might be more for you if you spend more time in the kitchen than I do, but quite honestly, I like to keep my kettle and toaster simple as extra features would frankly be wasted on me.

Now, I have to be completely honest: the Bosch set isn’t a perfect match for my Ninja air fryer. The copper is brushed rather than shiny, and the black is slightly more muted to more of aa dark charcoal colour. But it’s a good enough match- particularly because an exact match doesn’t exit – to look like my appliances all go together, and comes from one of the top trusted brands to boot.
