Traitors star Paul Gorton has shared a worrying update with fans as his one-month-old baby son was rushed to hospital. The actor’s newborn son, Cooper, whom he shares with partner Kate Waldron, faced a serious health battle after being diagnosed with bronchitis.
Taking to Instagram, the star expressed gratitude to those who’ve sent supportive messages and disclosed that little Cooper is on oxygen and an IV drip to help him with fluids. His partner opened up about the severity of the condition by saying that Cooper hasn’t been able to eat for 12 hours since milk in his stomach would make breathing more difficult.
She described the experience as “horrible”. In a statement, shared by Paul she penned: “Thank you all so much for all your kind messages about Cooper. Unfortunately yesterday he got worse and needed to be put on oxygen and an IV drip for fluids. I had to stop breastfeeding because having milk in his stomach was making breathing harder for him so he’s been nil by mouth for over 12 hours now and they are going to tube feed him small amounts soon from what I have pumped.
“As you can imagine for a newborn not to have milk he was very very unsettled so we gave him a dummy to finally get him to sleep and since then he has been flat out! Just not how you expect to see a baby so young, it’s so heartbreaking to see and to not even be able to feed and comfort my own baby is just horrible.”
On his Instagram, Paul penned: “Thanks for the messages everyone, really means a lot. Cooper has bronchitis and is currently on an IV and oxygen getting the best care. Hoping he turns a corner and improves as soon as possible.”

The couple, who are also parents to toddler Charlie, announced the birth of their son last month on Instagram. Sharing the happy news, Kate wrote: “Welcome to the world Cooper. What a crazy last couple of days! My waters broke and he was here later that day weighing a chunky 8.7lbs, the exact same weight Charlie was!
“Enjoying every second of newborn bliss as a family of 5 as we know how fast it goes this time around!!” Paul added with a laughing emoji: “We’ve packed A LOT into a year.”
Paul rose to fame on series two of the UK version of The Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman. The star played a blinding game as a Traitor, however after three weeks of Paul tactically winning over the Faithfuls with his charm and personality, Traitor Harry who went on to win the show, decided enough was enough and put a stop to Paul’s antics before they could go any further.
