Ye Argues Tyler, The Creator ‘Never Made a Memorable Song,’ Says He ‘Ripped Off My Whole Language’

Tyler, The Creator is the latest Ye-influenced artist to be made the target of the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s ire on social media. This comes after Playboi Carti’s MUSIC launch was caught up in several swiftly headlined updates to X, which has seemingly once more become Ye’s platform of choice in 2025.

“This n***a has never made a memorable song,” Ye said when sharing a throwback photo of him and Tyler embracing. “He’s like if an artist checked every box other than having any good verses or songs, and his last album ripped off my whole language.”

Tyler’s most recent album, CHROMAKOPIA, was released to widespread acclaim last October. The album, Tyler’s eighth, was later ranked as the second-best album of the year behind Kendrick Lamar’s GNX. Ye and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1, meanwhile, came in at No. 20.

It’s not entirely clear why Tyler is being mentioned by Ye now, though he’s far from the first example of someone who at one time would have been considered one of the artist’s most noteworthy disciples, only to (more recently) be publicly called out by the 24-time Grammy winner. Tyler, of course, has since very much carved out his own lane and earned exponential praise with each new era, all while stopping at various points along the journey to let fans know who has inspired him the most.

Tyler and Ye have both offered public praise for each other’s work over the years, not to mention worked together on multiple key tracks from their respective discographies. In a video chronicling the making of the 2015 Cherry Bomb track “Smuckers,” also featuring Lil Wayne, Ye credited Tyler with being instrumental in the larger inspiration behind Yeezus, an album that still reverberates across rap to this day.

“I don’t think there would have been a Yeezus if it wasn’t for you,” Ye said at the time, noting that Tyler “put that battery in my back.”

Tyler has also been cited as a personal favorite of Ye and Kim Kardashian’s oldest child, North West. Last October, she dressed up as Igor era Tyler for Halloween, with Tyler himself praising the costume.

For now, Tyler hasn’t addressed Ye’s latest remarks.
