50 Cent, who rubbed shoulders with celebrities at the Planet Hollywood reopening earlier this week, said he didn’t see NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who was reportedly booed at the event.
The Queens rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday to share his thoughts on Adams reportedly being booed at Planet Hollywood. “Damn they booed him, he must have got there after me. I didn’t see him at all,” 50 wrote in the caption of a post that includes a screengrab of an article reporting the alleged moment.
According to Page Six, Adams, who recently had a bribery case against him dismissed, was reportedly booed as he walked the red carpet at the Planet Hollywood reopening event in Times Square on Tuesday night.
The outlet noted that the boos were loud and that Adams likely heard them. An Uber driver also reportedly pulled over to heckle the mayor.
Aside from 50 Cent and Adams, the star-studded guest list at the launch party included Patrick Schwarzenegger and Boy George. Inside the venue, 50 caught up with Pete Davidson, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The grand opening at 136 W. 42nd St. was hosted by Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, just five years after the previous Planet Hollywood NYC location shuttered in Times Square.
50 Cent sponsored the festivities through his Branson Cognac line. The new nightclub and restaurant spans three floors and features multiple bars, DJ booths, massive 360-degree screens, and diverse eatery concepts.
The original Planet Hollywood location, which opened in 1991, closed during the pandemic.
