A Strictly Come Dancing star and TV legend has reportedly been chosen to guest-host the Lorraine show.
Lorraine Kelly, 64, usually takes time away from her daytime TV show during school term time, with ITV bringing in a replacement for her during the six-week summer holiday.
Now, the Mirror reports that RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage, 55, who has previously appeared on Lorraine as a guest, will be stepping in to take over.
TV bosses reportedly believe the Strictly star, who appeared on the dance competition with professional Giovanni Pernice, 33, in 2019, will be the “perfect fit”.
Lorraine is also regularly hosted by stand-ins Christine Lampard, 45, and Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh, 46.
A source told The Mirror: “ITV has lined up Michelle Visage as a part-time host for its morning chat show Lorraine. “She will be hosting the show during a one-off summertime special.
“She joins the show in a bid to keep it interesting over the summer months.”
They added: “Michelle is thrilled to have been given this opportunity. She’s a natural presenter and a huge fan of the show, so it’s a perfect fit.” OK! contacted ITV for comment.
It comes as the New Jersey native spoke to OK! about losing three-and-a-half stone.
Michelle also shared her hopes to normalise menopause transparency and detailed her gruelling workout routine.
“I work out six days a week and I take one day off – it is a lot but time is ticking,” she said.
She added: “I lost three-and-a-half-stone recently and, as a woman of a certain age, I had this loose skin and I didn’t want to have surgery.
“I thought, ‘How am I going to make this appear tighter and change the shape of my body without having it surgically altered?’ So I started heavy lifting.”
The Celebrity Big Brother star added that she wants to challenge society’s reluctance to talk about the menopause.
“Stigmas are so silly. I think that in the 1950s they were a thing, but that doesn’t exist anymore,” she explained.
Michelle added: “We have to really just keep breaking down the boundaries because it shouldn’t be taboo to talk about something that happens to every single woman.
“You can’t avoid it. There’s not one woman who’s going to bypass it. So they have to know they’re not alone and they don’t have to suffer.”
