BBC Beyond Paradise fans all left complaining after series finale ‘betrayal’

Beyond Paradise fans have been left feeling ‘betrayed’ after the series finale didn’t quite deliver what they expected. As the second series wrapped up, viewers were all abuzz about Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd’s (portrayed by Sally Bretton) wedding day drama.

The nuptials may have hit a snag, but the lovebirds were still sure about their life together.

Meanwhile, DS Esther Williams, brought to life by Zahra Ahmadi, tackled a solo mission when the Shipton Abbott Museum suffered a break-in and theft of its most treasured item. The cunning thief managed to dodge CCTV and outsmart an intricate alarm system, leaving Esther with a real head-scratcher.

Over in another part of town, PC Kelby Hartford, played by Dylan Llewellyn, was on the case of an elderly woman who had been conned by two men impersonating rather unexpected public figures. The plot thickened when it turned out the victim, Ella, portrayed by Souad Faress, is related to none other than Chief Superintendent Charlie Woods, played by Jade Harrison.

Despite the hurdles, Kelby nabbed the culprits and the Chief announced the local police station would remain open, reports the Express.

But the twist that really got fans talking was the non-wedding of Martha and Humphrey, with some taking to social media to express their frustration. One particularly vexed viewer said: “Cancelling everything is OTT and sort of ruining it too.”

In fact, fans of Beyond Paradise were left feeling short-changed after the series finale as a whole, with one viewer expressing their disappointment: “I wanted to see the wedding, the speeches, first dance, and vows, I feel betrayed, beyond betrayed #BeyondParadise.”

Another was in disbelief over the lack of nuptials: “YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME ? ! ? ! ? No wedding,” while someone else echoed the sentiment, “No wedding? (Today? ) #beyondparadise.”

The abrupt end to the series also caught viewers off guard, as one fan lamented: “Can’t believe this is the last episode, needs a longer run #BeyondParadise.”

Another disgruntled viewer added, “BeyondParadise very sad it’s the last in the series”.

Despite the outcry, there’s good news on the horizon as the BBC has announced that ‘Beyond Paradise’ will return for more. Tim Key, executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, shared his excitement about the show’s renewal: “The response to series two has been fantastic. So much love goes into the making of the show and we’re delighted that the audience has enjoyed it so much.”

He teased what’s to come: “We can’t wait to get back to Shipton Abbott for another Christmas special and series to continue the story and learn more about our characters and the town they live in – I can promise that we’ll be making the viewers laugh, cry, laugh a bit more and then baffling them with a series of ingenious puzzles. There will also be a duck.”
