The One Show viewers were left utterly starstruck when none other than Hollywood icon Robert De Niro dropped by for a chat on the famous green sofa.
Hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo returned to our screens with another thrilling episode on Thursday night (March 13), accompanied by a glittering lineup of celebrities.
The evening’s show welcomed stars like Debra Messing, Stephen Graham, and Owen Cooper, but it was Robert’s surprise appearance that had audiences at home in sheer disbelief, with many pondering how the Beeb managed to snag such a legendary figure for the programme.
Overwhelmed fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their amazement. One viewer exclaimed: “What the hell, Robert D’Niro on the one show. What is happening!!”

Another was curious: “I wonder how much they are paying Robert Di Niro for this 10-minute appearance,” reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, a third was simply awestruck: “What a geezer one of the greatest WOW!!”. And a fourth praised the show’s guest list: “Up their game tonight with Robert DeNiro and Debra Messing.”
As the show progressed, however, some viewers sensed that the esteemed actor might not have been too thrilled to be there. Comments also surfaced about Robert’s rather flat delivery when he was asked to impart some career advice to up-and-coming actor Owen.
In his trademark style, Robert offered his guidance, saying: “Well, I think he’s off to a good start, that’s the main thing.

“And just to keep at it. Keep at it! Do…I mean he’s there. Now it’s common sense, what to do, what not to do. Try to stay out of trouble and all that stuff and you’ll do well. You’ll do well!”.
Fans were quick to notice that the vibe on the set was just as lively as ever, and they didn’t hold back on sharing their thoughts online.
Heading over to X (aka the platform previously known as Twitter), viewers aired their views with one fan commenting: “What’s wrong with Robert de Niro he looks so confused #TheOneShow.”
Another chipped in with a succinct “#TheOneShow God that was awkward.” Yet another viewer observed: “Bobby seems engaged………..Not! ! #theoneshow”.

Meanwhile, someone else couldn’t help but remark: “Had to pause Robert De’Niro giving career advice so I can fast forward it, awkward as s**t.”
Robert, along with his co-star Debra, graced the BBC programme to chat about their upcoming flick, The Alto Knights. This hotly anticipated movie throws the spotlight on infamous New York mob leaders Frank Costello and Vito Genovese battling it out to rule the city’s underbelly.
