Beyoncé Spoofs Netflix Glitching Ahead of Christmas Day Halftime Show

Beyoncé knows that the BeyHive has concerns about Netflix glitching during her Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans Halftime Show performance on Christmas Day. But this didn’t stop the Cowboy Carter artist from joking about it in a new promotional spot.

One day ahead of the big show, the 32-time Grammy winner posted a video of herself on a football field while playing the banjo to the tune of “Texas Hold ‘Em.” After stopping to take off her sunglasses, the Netflix buffer signal played across her face while the sound of the singer chuckling was heard. Once the video resumed, Beyoncé winked at the camera and grinned.

A previous commercial showed Beyoncé strutting in the snow towards a Christmas-decorated cactus and pointing her gloved fingers in the air like a shotgun before blowing them.

Although Beyoncé’s mother, Ms. Tina Knowles, claimed that Netflix shouldn’t experience glitching during the performance, as “God is going to be there,” others have worried that the event could be a repeat of the streamed Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match in November.

Days after the fight, a $2.75 million class action lawsuit was filed by Florida resident Ronald “Blue” Denton after thousands claimed that they were unable to properly view the special and “were faced with legendary problems, including: no access, streaming glitches, and buffering issues.”

According to Tudum, the Paul vs. Tyson bout reached a peak of 65 million households and 38 million concurrent streams, but Netflix acknowledged technical difficulties in a post-match statement.

“This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers,” Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone wrote in an internal email to employees, per Bloomberg.

“I’m sure many of you have seen the chatter in the press and on social media about the quality issues. We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”
