Bruno Guimaraes has issued a message after helping Newcastle United reach the Carabao Cup final.
The Magpies claimed a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night. Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon found the back of the net at St James’ Park to help Newcastle ease to a 4-0 aggregate win against the Gunners.
Newcastle will now look ahead to the final at Wembley Stadium, where they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur. The semi-final second leg between the Reds and Spurs takes place at Anfield on Thursday night, with the visitors holding a 1-0 first-leg advantage.
After the game, Kieran Trippier posted a message on Instagram to celebrate reaching the Carabao Cup final. The Newcastle defender wrote: “Nights like these! Unbelievable performance and support tonight. Newcastle are going to Wembley.”
Guimaraes used the post from Trippier in his own Instagram story, and accompanied it with his own caption. The Newcastle captain issued a three-word message, which read: “What a night”.
This is the second time that Newcastle have reached the Carabao Cup final across the last three seasons. Eddie Howe and Co. reached the Wembley showpiece in 2023, when they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
Newcastle will be hoping for a much different result when they face either Liverpool or Tottenham next month. As a result of reaching the Carabao Cup final, which will be played on March 16, the Magpies will see their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace rearranged, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
United are chasing their first domestic cup triumph since 1955.
