Cardi B wants to clear the air about her relationship with Pardison Fontaine in light of their new single and his breakup with Megan Thee Stallion.
Ahead of the release of “Toot It Up” on Friday, the Cardi, 32, hopped onto X Spaces on Tuesday night to address the online narratives surrounding her longstanding relationship with friend and collaborator, Pardi.
“I want to make this very clear,” Cardi warned at the 2-minute mark in the video linked below. “I know Pardisan since 2012, and Pardison helped me with my first album. That’s how I became a fucking rich ass successful millionaire.”
“We’re like brothers and sisters, and when we talk about brothers and sisters, a lot of times we have fallouts because he pisses me the fuck off and I piss him the fuck off,” she continued. “I violate, you know how my mouth is. It’s really a brother and sister relationship. Sometimes we get along and sometimes we don’t talk for eight months.”
Cardi explained that the track “Toot It Up” and its music video had been completed for some time, but with Pardi’s recent signing to a label, she told him to “just drop it.”
Further into the livestream and without naming names, she firmly asked fans to stop dragging her into the middle of personal issues involving Pardi and his ex-girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion, whom he dated from 2020 until 2023.
“When I fuck with two people and I like two people, I stay away from their shit because when it comes to relationships, some bullshit will always happen,” Cardi said. “One thing about me, I’m gonna stay neutral and I’m gonna stay the fuck out of it.”
She continued, “I am the child of the relationship and I stay out of y’all shit. … You don’t talk shit to me about him, I say you don’t talk shit to me about her. That’s how I always give it up because at the end of day I fuck with both of y’all and I love both of y’all. That’s just what it is. So stop with the bullshit.”
She then urged fans to “stop being messy” and to stop “harassing” her online.
On a more positive note, Cardi confirmed that her oft-delayed sophomore album, the follow up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, is finally finished. She also explained that she’s waiting on production logistics, likely in reference to vinyl pressing.
“I need to make sure that when I announce the album, those shits are completed because if you are not able to order those stuff, then it’s not going to count for my album,” Cardi said.
