Casanova Shares New Photos From Prison: ‘Lost Everything and Everyone, But I Didn’t Lose Myself’

Casanova has upped his fitness game while behind bars.

Amid his lengthy prison sentence, the Brooklyn-born rapper returned to Instagram to share a quick update on his wellbeing. Casanova’s page was updated with a carousel in which he and his fellow inmate showed off their prison muscle gains.

“I lost everything and everyone but I didnt lose myself!” he captioned the March 12 post. “Health is wealth.. I hope that dont go over yall heads (SB) But I got muscles tho :)”

The update came roughly 20 months after Casanova was sentenced to prison for gang-related racketeering and narcotics offenses. Casanova—legal name Caswell Senior— pleaded guilty to the charges in 2022, admitting his involvement in a shooting, robbery, and drug trafficking scheme.

“Like twelve of his co-defendants, Caswell Senior, an accomplished recording artist and performer, now stands convicted of playing a leadership role in Gorilla Stone, a particularly violent Bloods gang that operates throughout New York and across the country,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said during Casanova’s legal battle. “In addition to his supervisory role, Senior was an active, hands-on participant in the gang’s senseless violence, including a shooting in Miami and contributing to a robbery at a Manhattan diner.”

Months after his guilty plea, the Behind These Scars rapper sent a letter to a judge begging for a lighter sentence. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Casanova told the judge he renounced all ties to the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang and pledged to use his platform to speak out against criminal activity. He was facing up to 60 years in prison at the time, but was ultimately hit with a five-year, eight-month sentence.

Shortly after Casanova began serving his time, a federal court denied his request for a compassionate release. The court argued that at the time of the motion Casanova had yet to serve 20% of his sentence, which was on the lower end of the prosecution’s recommended sentencing range.

The rapper spoke about his case in a January interview with XXL magazine, admitting his biggest mistake was “not knowing the law,” specifically when it came to marijuana.

“I don’t mean the regular law,” he clarified. “I mean the federal law, because state-wise, I’m good. I could’ve promoted marijuana. To clear this up, I don’t even have a marijuana sale. I don’t have a sale… They just seen me promoting marijuana on Instagram and said, ‘Oh yeah, you’re selling marijuana.’ You know, a lot of rappers promote marijuana and they’re not in jail, but again, since I was tied to a gang, they just looked at it like, ‘You know what, let’s wrap this guy up and whatever we have to wrap him up with.’ That’s where the racketeering comes in. Federally, it’s bad, but state-wise, it’s not bad.”

Casanova was reportedly “slashed” across his face by a fellow inmate at Essex County Correctional Facility not long after he condemned his past criminal activity with the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang in June 2023. Per NBC New York, the rapper was involved in “vicious altercation with another inmate.”
