Coronation Street buffs have cracked the case on newest arrival James Cartwright, recognising him from his earlier TV gigs as the ITV soap drops the bombshell of three fresh faces set to bring fireworks to the street with some big plotlines.
James Cartwright is jumping into the fray as Theo Silverton, a charismatic scaffolder who’s sure to ruffle feathers with Julie (Katy Cavanagh) and George (Tony Maudsley), while somehow managing to buddy up with Todd (Gareth Pierce). Alongside him are new talents Jonathan Howard as Carl Webster, and Jason Callender striding in as James Bailey.
Chatting about becoming Theo, James shared: “I think Theo is a good guy, he comes in with the best of intentions, as most people do, but he may upset some people with his behaviour.”

Adding a sprinkle of mystery about what’s to come, he cheekily revealed: “I had a line the other day where I said ‘I think I left my trousers in the bedroom’ so make of that what you will.”
Even before his first Corrie appearance, fans realised they’ve seen James before, notably as Nathan Jones, the memorable care worker from the much-loved children’s show The Story of Tracy Beaker, which aired from 2003 to 2007, reports Lancs Live.
He’s also charmed listeners for years as Harrison Burns on BBC Radio’s The Archers, a role he captivated from 2014 all the way till 2025.

Eager viewers took to social media, expressing their delight at James stepping onto the cobbles, with one fan exclaiming: “Buzzing to see James Cartwright from The Story of Tracy Beaker head to Weatherfield #Corrie.”
One excited fan couldn’t believe their eyes, exclaiming: “IS THAT ACTUALLY HIM ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! OH MY GOD I wanted to marry Nathan and get matching eyebrow piercings.”
Another shared their nostalgia, commenting: “I watched and loved all the Tracy Beaker programmes with my daughter as she grew up. What an achievement for this actor. Fab news.”

An enthusiastic viewer was in disbelief: “NOOO WAYYYYY”, while an Instagram user shouted out: “JAMES CARTWRIGHT! ! ! not seen him since early 2000s in Tracy beaker!” Another chimed in with surprise, saying, “Wow, he’s unrecognisable”.
James has showcased his talent on a slew of other beloved TV shows, including ‘Hollyoaks Later’ (2009), ‘Holby City’ (2011), ‘Father Brown’ (2019), and ‘Downton Abbey’ (2019), along with several others.
Notably, in 2009, James made waves on stage in ‘The Rise and Fall of Little Voice’, a play penned by his father and esteemed playwright Jim Cartwright.
