Coronation Street fans were buzzing when Becky McDonald’s name popped up in Wednesday’s episode, reminding everyone of the iconic character.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Max Turner was behind the Platt family’s devastating house fire, which left several lives in danger, including his own.
Drama unfolded as CCTV revealed the arsonist in a notable hoodie, which Shona recognised as the one she gifted Max for Christmas.
Wednesday’s developments saw the police conducting forensic tests on the hoodie, found tossed in a bin, leading to Max’s attempted escape upon realising he’d be caught.
The twist came when Shona and David Platt decided to aid Max’s getaway to dodge a potential jail sentence, reports Lancs Live.

In a cunning move, David roped in Max’s aunty, Becky McDonald, into the plan. To a concerned Shona, David explained: “Becky said she’ll have Max. Apparently she’s still shacked up with that Ian bloke, who runs the hotel in Belize. He’s never been one for staying on the right side of the law. Max can go and work for him, cash in hand.”
Fans will remember Becky stepping onto the cobbles in 2005, taken under the wing of Roy Cropper and his late wife, Hayley.
Following a rocky road with Steve McDonald, which included marriage, Becky waved goodbye to the street in 2012, off to Barbados chasing a fresh start post a showdown with nemesis Tracy Barlow and ex Steve.
Becky is Max’s aunt, as her sister, Kylie Platt, was Max’s mother. Kylie tragically passed away in 2016, leaving her children Max and Lily Platt in the care of David.
Since departing from the cobbles in 2012, Becky actress Katherine Kelly has enjoyed a successful career, taking on leading roles in numerous hit BBC and ITV dramas.
