After viewers were left waiting for news on when the’d see him and his family back on screen, Matt Baker has confirmed his TV return for Christmas, with the new show coming a lot sooner than fans might expect.
One of the country’s most popular TV stars for decades now, having first burst into the spotlight as a presenter on Blue Peter at the turn of the millennium, before going onto reach the final of Strictly and become a host on The One Show, County Durham born Matt reached a whole new audience in 2021, thanks to More4 series Our Farm in the Dales.
The show followed Matt, wife Nicola and the couple’s two children as they headed back to home turf to help Matt’s parents, Janice and Mike on the family farm, after Janice was seriously injured in an accident while carrying out her duties. Viewers were instantly invested in the family’s efforts as they worked to secure the farm’s future, with Matt throwing himself into everything farm life brought his way.
Our Farm in the Dales proved so popular that it made the switch to Channel 4 on Saturday nights, with a second series and festive episode quickly commissioned. The show’s popularity also Matt launch another programme with Janice and Mike – Travels With Mum and Dad – and it’s that show that Matt will make his return in for Christmas.
Fans were left gutted when the latest series of Travels With Mum and Dad came to an end earlier this year, but they won’t have long to wait for their next fix, as Matt took to Instagram to announce that the trio would be back on Monday, December 9 at 9pm, with a festive special that will see them board the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Matt’s many social media followers delighted at the news, with one replying: “Super! Looking forward to watching! Happy Christmas to all the Bakers” as a second wrote: “Absolutely love watching your shows. Something positive in an otherwise heavy world. Keep making them please”
