Danny Dyer’s son-in-law makes EastEnders debut as fans all say same thing

EastEnders is gearing up for its epic 40th anniversary with some thrilling surprises, including the return of fan-favourite characters.

Wednesday’s (February 12) episode wowed viewers as an iconic pair make their way back to Albert Square and a very special cameo lit up televisions screen.

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen delivers an unexpected treat in a video message, congratulating die-hard Hammers supporter Billy Mitchell on his impending nuptials to Honey Mitchell.

During their joint hen and stag do at the Vic, Teddy Mitchell handed Billy his phone, leaving him gobsmacked by a personal shout-out from his football hero. Jarrod beams in the clip: “Hey, Honey and Billy, it’s Jarrod Bowen here.”

He continues, “Teddy told us you’re about to tie the knot… so I want to say a massive congratulations and good luck from myself and all of us here at West Ham. Enjoy your special day, and hopefully we’ll see you at the London Stadium soon.”

Jarrod isn’t just a football star, he’s also linked to the soap through his fiancée, Love Island sensation Dani Dyer, daughter of EastEnders legend Danny Dyer who played Mick Carter until Christmas 2022. Jarrod and Dani are doting parents to twin girls, Summer and Star, born in May 2023.

Jarrod’s unexpected appearance sent fans into meltdown, with one writing on social media: “Nice cameo for Jarrod Bowen in Eastenders! The boy can do it all!.” Another added: “Jarrod Bowen’s cheeky Eastenders cameo..” A third said: “Jarrod Bowen on EastEnders you know.”

Albert Square was buzzing with nostalgia as Billy got stunned by the unexpected arrival of his old mates Garry and Minty, brought to life once more by original actors Ricky Groves and Chris Parisi. The iconic duo, unseen on our screens since their respective departures in 2009/2010, made a top-secret return, stirring excitement among fans.

Garry, who left the soap in a cloud of romance with Dawn Swann (played by Kara Tointon), had viewers discover, to their dismay, that things hadn’t quite worked out for the couple.

Billy and Honey were delighted with their surprise

Meanwhile, Minty’s life update revealed he’s hitched and has somehow ended up with Garry living in his attic—talk about surprise housemates!

Social media went wild with delight at this one-off reprise. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan gushed, “Omg Garry and Minty! Loving all the old faces,” while another was ecstatic, “GARRY AND MINTY APPEARANCE IN 2025? ! IM LIVING #eastenders”.

But while hopes soared for the pair’s longer stint, it seems it was but a fleeting visit; they announced their imminent departure by the episode’s end, leaving EastEnders faithfuls sighing as Garry apologised to Billy for missing the “big day”.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
