Darts and cocktails on the menu as world famous Flight Club confirms Newcastle opening

Just days after it was confirmed that Newcastle will soon be home to huge rooftop entertainment hotspot Freight Island, it has now been announced that famous darts and cocktail bar Flight Club will open in the city this year.

There was a lot of excitement on Wednesday, when plans were revealed for Freight Island, which will bring 60,000sqft of top notch food and drink to the upper levels of the vacant Debenhams building in Eldon Square, which is also set to be home to a brand new Next Store this summer.

As well as having its own restaurant and a vast array of street food stalls, a key feature will be the Music Box—a new venue for live music and touring acts, allowing Freight Island to host a variety of events, including corporate gatherings, art showcases, theatre, national festivals and international tours.

And Freight Island isn’t the only exciting new addition Eldon Square will be getting this year, as on Tuesday afternoon, it was confirmed that Flight Club, a hugely popular haunt in the likes of London, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, as well as appearing on TV shows like Made in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating, will soon be making the switch to Newcastle with stunning shots on how the new bar will look like, showing a clear emphasis on luxury surroundings and high end fixtures and fittings.

Beyond darts, Flight Club’s appeal extends to its exceptional food and drink offerings. Guests can enjoy a range of delicious options, from freshly made sourdough pizzas to burgers and sharing dishes, all designed to complement the entertainment and ensure it remains a go to destination for its loyal customers.

It was first revealed by ChronicleLive in November, after Flight Club’s latest opening in Oxford, that an application had been made by Flight Club to open up in Newcastle and its now full steam ahead on plans to take over the former home of Reds Barbecue, which has entrances in both itself Eldon Square itself and outside on Nelson Street.

Delighted to be bringing Flight Club to Newcastle, its CEO and Founder, Steve Moore, commented: “Bringing Flight Club to Newcastle has been a long-term ambition for us. It’s a city that’s notorious for epic nights out, so we couldn’t be more excited to become a part of that when we open. We pride ourselves on creating spectacular bars with buzzing atmospheres that bring groups of people together for moments of unexpected, ridiculous joy. We can’t wait to show the North East what a Flight Club party looks like.”

Equally excited about the Tyneside opening, Kitty Vaughan, Head of UK Leisure and F&B at Pradera Lateral, Eldon Square’s Asset Management team, said: “Welcoming Flight Club to Eldon Square will strengthen our dynamic mix of leisure options, further enhancing our reputation as the premier shopping and entertainment hub in Newcastle.

“Our entertainment offering is crucial to attracting visitors to Eldon Square and the addition of such a renowned, experience-led brand will ensure we continue to attract diverse audiences to the centre.”

Just this week, Eldon Square has been a real hive of activity, with queues out the door to welcome world famous chicken restaurant Wingstop to Newcastle.
