DJ Akademiks didn’t handle it well when Yesjulz said he wasn’t good at his job.
According to HotNewHipHop, Ak claimed during a stream that Kendrick Lamar had a hand in shaping Playboi Carti’s new album, Music.
“Kendrick is creative directing the whole shit,” Akademiks said.
However, that doesn’t appear to be true. Carti’s longtime producer, F1LTHY—who made the beat for “All Red”—responded to Ak and said Dot wasn’t involved in that capacity.
“Kendrick fam but he is NOT the creative director of this album,” F1LTHY tweeted. “This Carti album.”
Akademiks responded on his stream. “No disrespect to F1LTHY, I don’t know who the fuck F1LTHY is,” he said. “Kendrick is on the album. Whether it’s creative director, executive producer, I don’t give a fuck. I’m only going off what Carti told me.”
When Yesjulz heard that Akademiks was unfamiliar with F1LTHY, she tweeted, “Not knowing F1LTHY is one of Carti’s main collaborators in 2025 as a journalist covering hip-hop is surely one way to admit you suck at your job.”
Akademiks didn’t appreciate the jab. The media personality took to his stream to slam Julz, calling her a “wh*re,” among other names and expletives.
Please be warned that his language in the following clip is disturbing.
He also responded to her initial tweet.
Julz was unfazed. “Bro bout to pop a blood vessel,” she wrote on X. In a follow-up tweet, she called him an “incel.”
Carti dropped the long-awaited, I Am Music on Friday, which boasts an all-star guest lineup with Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Skepta, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla Sign, and Young Thug. The offering follows Carti’s 2020 album, Whole Lotta Red.
