Meet the police pup who is looking for a new owner to give him a happy home after a difficult start in life.
Taz the Belgian Malinois was found abandoned as a young pup and taken to Durham Constabulary with the hope he could become a working police dog.
But unfortunately the force discovered that he didn’t have all the attributes to fulfil his role effectively. And now this loving lad, who is approximately 14 months old, is on the lookout for a forever home.
Taz is a high-drive, boisterous, large dog who will require strong firm handling and owners who are experienced in the breed and can cater to both his needs physically and mentally.
He has lived his whole life in a kennelling environment so may take a little time adjusting to living within a home.

Because of his breed and high-drive nature, he can’t be rehomed with cats or young children although children may be considered if over the age of 16 who are experienced and confident around the breed.
Despite his rough start in life, Taz loves people and adores being fussed over, playing fetch and given lots of attention. With the right home and a little bit of training, Durham Constabulary believe Taz can thrive and be a fantastic loyal companion for someone whilst also finally getting his happy ending.
Anyone interested in giving Taz a home and would like to apply, please email Kennelstaff@durham.police.uk and include any relevant experience and why you think your home could be ideal for Taz.
All eligible applications will be replied to in due course.
