Eddie Howe confirms his Newcastle United Wembley ‘attire’ as suit question asked

Eddie Howe will stick with his trademark tracksuit for Wembley and has insisted that Newcastle United will treat the Carabao Cup final pretty much like a Premier League away day.

The Magpies opted against holding a cup final media day earlier in the week and while a couple of players did meet the local press on Friday morning, they were whisked straight back to training and the team will not travel until the eve of the game. Howe is keen to keep distractions to a minimum for the big occasion against Liverpool.

When asked if it was business as usual, Howe, speaking at his usual Friday press conference, said: “I think that would be fair. I made the point after West Ham that if we change our preparation drastically for just this one game, then there is a problem with how we prepare normally.

“So that is my way of thinking. It should be a case of every game being a Cup final, really. Every Premier League game is so big. We want to perform to our best so we want to keep it very, very stable for the players so it is not anything too new. Just give them the best chance to perform in the way we normally perform.”

When asked if he would be wearing a suit, Howe said: “I’ve not given that too much consideration. My attire will be very consistent with what you normally see.

“I am very respectful of traditions and what it means to be in that position as Newcastle manager, but I think I’m better off focusing on the game rather than my attire.

“It means everything. I said when I came to the club that I was so proud to be here. I am so proud to represent the city and I want to do it in the right way and try to make everyone proud and happy. That is the challenge we have this weekend.”
