Newcastle United have a quick turnaround following their FA Cup success over Bromley, with Wolves at St James’ Park for the first of two Premier League home games in quick succession. The Magpies made it eight wins in a row with Sunday’s 3-1 win over League Two Bromley, but know Wolves will pose a very different test.
Eddie Howe made plenty of changes at the weekend and is expected to name a more familiar starting XI against Vitor Pereira’s side, but will have to make fitness calls over the likes of Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Joe Willock. All three sat out the FA Cup win, but while Isak is expected to be fit, the United head coach won’t take any risks.
We’re also approaching the halfway mark of the January transfer window and so there will be plenty of focus on any deals when Howe speaks to the media this morning. There has been interest in Newcastle stars, but Howe is aware that any exits could leave his squad thin in key areas.
We’ve got all the latest from the United boss coming up right here with live updates as they happen.
