Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz made an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday (February 13), giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their lambing process on their family farm in Cheshire. The former soap star has swapped acting for farming in the Peak District, alongside Liz and their four children.
However, life on the farm isn’t always a walk in the park. In a pre-recorded video from the farm, Liz confessed that she and Kelvin often “have a row” when trying to herd the sheep, describing it as stressful due to the sheep’s disobedience.
Kelvin took charge on the quad bike to round up the flock, with Liz commenting: “You’ll always have an argument when herding sheep, we’re told you’re not real farmers if you don’t.”

She also shared that Kelvin tends to “mock her driving” whenever she takes a turn on the four-wheeler. Despite Liz’s initial concerns, everything went smoothly as they guided their sheep into an enclosure to be weighed.
Those showing weight gain would move onto the next stage of the process. During a live clip from their farm, they lined up their woolly charges suspected of being pregnant, reports Leeds Live.

Kelvin opened up to Scottish host Lorraine Kelly, revealing that the “ideal scenario” on the farm is when a sheep is expecting “doubles” to lower the “risk”. The couple was keeping their fingers crossed for twin lambs across the board, aiming for that “easy life”.
He explained the unique colour-coding system they use: blue spray for twins, green for a single lamb, and red marks those with triplets, symbolizing “for danger” due to increased risk. His wife Liz shared the intense emotions surrounding the scanning process, stating: “It’s the most nail biting scan of our lives,” as they prepared to have the first sheep scanned live on the show.

Jubilation hit when the first sheep was confirmed to be carrying twins, prompting the pair to cheer: “Yes, twins.”
However, the mood was bittersweet when the next sheep announced only one lamb; yet Lorraine offered some consolation, saying: “That’s alright though, it’s better than triplets.”
Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and ITVX
