It appears that the cold, wintry weather is set to continue over the next five days.
It is well and truly February, with rain, sleet and possibly even snow is expected. According to the Met Office, over the coming days it should remain cloudy, windy and cold. Fortunately, the region isn’t expected to be hit with storms like Storm Eowyn – but it’s still not going to be great.
Throughout Monday and Tuesday, there could be some strong gusts of wind, with temperatures around the 4° mark. Light rain on both of those days is expected.
Below is the five-day forecast for the North East, according to the Met Office:
Sunday:
It is expected to remaining cloudy for the rest of Sunday, with further spells of rain and some more showery bursts. Initially a few flurries on hills, but tending to become more wintry overnight, though significant accumulations of snow are not expected. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
Monday:
Another mostly cloudy and increasingly cold day, the continuing onshore wind bringing spells of rain and sleet. Some snow is likely, this mainly on hills where small accumulations are possible. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
A cold and mostly cloudy period, with some further rain or showers, these wintry on modest hills. Probably becoming drier as the easterly wind weakens through midweek, although remaining cloudy.
