The North-East icon is bringing some new offerings to stores this week. Famous for their pastries and sandwiches, they are now expanding to offer more hot food from Thursday, February 6th.
The bakery chain that first opened on Gosforth high-street has more chains than Subway or McDonald’s in the UK, with over 2,500 bakeries, going on over 86 years now. The fast food giant will introduce its new BBQ chicken range to selected shops in the UK as part of its hot menu expansion plan.
The new items – which will be added to 150 shop menus from Thursday, February 6 – include the new BBQ Crispy Chicken Burger and BBQ Chicken Wrap – which will set you back £4 and £3.80, respectively. Greggs hopes to roll out the items to over 300 stores by Spring 2025.
Both can be purchased for a bargain of £4.95 as part of the Hot Sandwich Deal, which includes any hot sandwich, wedges, or side salad and a drink for £4.95.
The bakery chain says the BBQ Crispy Chicken Burger is a “new twist” on an old favourite and features chicken breast coated in crispy crumbs and salad leaves, topped with BBQ sauce and mayonnaise, and served in a soft corn top roll.
The BBQ Chicken Wrap includes Southern Fried Chicken Goujons, salad leaves, cucumber, and tomato and is topped with BBQ sauce and mayonnaise in a soft tortilla wrap.
Alongside the new additions, Greggs is bringing back some old favourites, including the Katsu Chicken Bake (a personal favourite), the Cherry Bakewell Muffin, the Cinnamon Swirl Latte and Cinnamon Flat White.
All of the new and returning menu items are available via Click+Collect on the Greggs App starting Thursday this week.
