Gripping TV shows to binge while you wait for Disney+ hit Paradise’s next episode

Disney+‘s new series Paradise quickly became a fan favourite after the first episodes were released for streaming at the end of January. At first glance, it seemed to be a murder mystery, with Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (played by Sterling K Brown) investigating the murder of President Cal Bradford (portrayed by James Marsden) in his home.

However, the finale of the first episode delivered a shocking twist: the world had undergone some sort of apocalyptic event three years prior, and Cal, Xavier, and 25,000 others were actually residing in a city-sized underground bunker when the murder took place. If you’re itching for the next episode and crave a mind-boggling show that you can stream in full right now, check out the binge-worthy series below – they’re all must-watches for fans of Paradise.

Silo
Rebecca Ferguson stars in Silo

Silo is available on Apple TV+.

Similar to the inhabitants of Paradise, the characters in Silo also reside underground, albeit in a far less luxurious environment. Set in a dystopian future, their community inhabits a massive concrete silo due to the hazards of breathing the outside air, reports the Mirror. Strict rules govern their lives, and disobedience risks being sentenced to “go out” into the world outside, where death awaits within minutes. As the Silo’s sheriff (David Oyelowo) and an engineer (Rebecca Ferguson) begin questioning the information they’ve been given, the situation grows even more dire. Based on Hugh Howey’s Silo sci-fi novels, the series currently spans two seasons.

Under the Dome
Dean Norris is among the stars of Under The Dome

Under The Dome, available on Sky TV and My5

Under The Dome is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name and aired from 2013 for three years. The story unfolds in Chester’s Mill, where a massive, impenetrable, and transparent dome abruptly isolates the residents from the outside world. As resources dwindle, tensions rise, and secrets among the townsfolk begin to surface. The series features a cast including Mike Vogel from Sex/Life, Rachel Lefevre from Twilight, and Dean Norris from Breaking Bad.

Twin Peaks
Kyle MacLachlan plays the iconic Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks is available on Paramount+.

We sadly said goodbye to David Lynch in January, and one of his career highlights is this eerie drama that, like Paradise, starts as a murder mystery but evolves into something much more. FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) lands in the Pacific Northwestern town of Twin Peaks to probe the murder of local teen Laura Palmer, only to uncover an even darker reality. The series, which aired for two seasons in 1990 and was revived in 2017, also features Piper Laurie, Ray Wise, Sherilyn Fenn and Michael Ontkean.

Naveen Andrews
Naveen Andrews is one of the survivors in Lost

Lost on Disney+

Lost follows the survivors of a plane crash (including Matthew Fox, Dominic Monaghan and Naveen Andrews) stranded on a mysterious and deserted Pacific island. This cleverly structured series intertwines the present-day narrative with flashbacks that shed light on those trying to find their way back home. Despite a controversial final sixth season and ending, Lost is often hailed as one of the greatest TV series ever – boasting elements (the hatch, the smoke monster, the Others) that fans love, and even one of the most heart-wrenching episodes of mainstream TV you’re likely to see (The Constant). With its twisty supernatural aspects and intricate mythology, it’s perfect for a lengthy (122 episodes!) binge-watch.

Severance
Severance is a twisty series currently on Apple TV+

Severance is available on Apple TV+

Severance is one of those shows that’s best approached with as little prior knowledge as possible. Now in its second season, the drama series follows Mark (played by Adam Scott) who starts working at Lumon, a company that can successfully separate your work memories from your non-work memories, effectively wiping his mind clean every day when he leaves the office. We won’t reveal any more, except to say that the cast, which includes Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Britt Lower, are absolutely stellar.

The White Lotus
Jennifer Coolidge is one of the guests at The White Lotus

The White Lotus is available on Sky TV

The White Lotus, now in its third season starting February 17, is another glossy, fun and deadly drama series you can catch up on. Each season is set in a different location – the first in a resort hotel in Hawaii, the second in Sicily, and the third in Thailand (with a fourth season also in the works). All seasons share a common thread – they focus on the affluent guests at the resort, and each series begins with a death, leaving viewers guessing who died and what transpired in the days leading up to it. The cast changes each season, with an impressive roster of actors including Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, Theo James, Bridget Jones’ star Leo Woodall and Tom Hollander.

Gripping TV shows to binge while you wait for Disney+ hit Paradise’s next episode
Matt Dillon stars in Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines is available for purchase on Prime Video

Regrettably, only episodes of the 2015 series Wayward Pines are available for purchase at present, but it’s certainly worth tracking down. The show is executive produced by M Night Shyamalan, renowned for his plot twists in The Sixth Sense, and is based on the novels of the same name. It features Matt Dillon as an FBI agent probing the disappearance of two colleagues who, after a car accident, finds himself trapped in the town of Wayward Pines, unable to communicate with the outside world or escape. The cast also includes Juliette Lewis, Terrence Howard and Toby Jones from Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.
