The North East is set for a sunny Sunday after Storm Bert brought snow on Saturday.
Yellow weather warnings are in place for the west of England and some parts of Scotland until Sunday morning, but our region is set for a much calmer day. According to the Met Office, the day will get off to a rainy start, with at least a 60% chance of precipitation until 7am.
However, skies will clear by mid-morning, with Newcastle is set for several hours of sunshine. Temperatures could get as high as 13°C.
It is a far cry from what we woke up to on Saturday morning, with heavy snow in the west end of Newcastle, Northumberland and County Durham; causing disruption to flights from Newcastle Airport, chaos on the roads, and cancellations of Christmas markets and other events.
The Met Office said for Sunday: “Brighter and largely dry conditions follow, with a chance of isolated showers. Temperatures will be near average. Windy at times.”
